Handling the returns and the refunds
Although you aren’t in charge of the product fulfillments,
you are still accountable for accepting the returns and giving the customer
support for the defective products. After all, you’re the face of the business you
own and the customers are still not aware of your dropshipping arrangement with
your suppliers.
As an outcome, you need to deal with the returns yourself
and also you cannot depend on the suppliers for customer support.
Here is how the returns are being handled in the typical
dropshipping store.
1. The customer will ask for the refund by contacting the customer
email or support phone details.
2. You contact the supplier for the control number.
3. The customer sends the goods back to the supplier with
the control number clearly specified on the packaging.
4. Your supplier refunded the wholesale amount back to the report
when the package has been received.
Provide the refund item to the customer
In the calculation of the process above, the supplier may
charge the restocking fee that you may either pass together with the customer
or you may select to eat the amount. Either way, it is all a portion of doing business.
Customer Support
While managing the dropshipped eCommerce online store is even
more hands off when compared with the traditional online stores, there are particular
aspects of dropshipping which you needed to be attentive of as you manage your online
business.
Dealing with the out of stock goods
When the customer ordered the products that are out of
stock, this will be the accountability of the retailer to communicate to their
customers. Typically, you must provide the customer with three other options.
1. Wait for the goods to return in stock and give the ETA.
2. Exchange the goods for a similar product.
Refund the money
As a retailer, you have multiple dropshippers and in dealing
with them and the shipments, you must:
1. If the retailer is dealing with multiple dropshippers, the
clients can purchase multiple products which span multiple suppliers.
2. The customer can receive their orders as broken apart from
multiple shipments. Additionally, you can be charged with split costs for each of
the dropshipping supplier.
3. When the situations such as this arise, you should inform
the customer and so they will not get confused.
4. Since it also costs more cash to ship across multiple dropshippers,
you may either charge the added shipping fee or just take the cost.
Orders from the competitors
If you are aware that
your competitor manages the same dropshipping online store, you may then find
out who the suppliers they are engaging with by merely placing the order.
The moment the package is received, you may look at the dropshipping
label for the return address. If the shipping label doesn't contain the name of
the suppliers, you can simply Google now the address and locate the
distributor’s name.
Before starting your online selling, you must ask different customer
support representative in depth questions regarding the product to know if they
are also aware of their stuffs.
